Ministries at Christ Church

Food and coat pantry

We offer food and clothing to any in need. This supplementary food pantry is open before, during, and after worship services and by appointment. For an appointment, please call 315-866-0551 and leave a message.
We welcome donations of non-perishable food that don't need preparation (e.g. canned ravioli, Spaghetti-O's, individually wrapped energy bars
) or cash donations to purchase food items (checks can be made payable to Christ Church and mailed to Christ Church, 300 N. Main St, Herkimer, NY 13350).

Free Community Dinners

Christ Church also hosts a free Community Dinner on the last Saturday of every month. Anyone, regardless of hunger status, is invited to participate in this fellowship meal.
The meal begins with a prayer and includes a main dish, side dishes, and often a dessert.
If you know of someone who would benefit greatly from this ministry but is homebound or is unable to come for any reason, please let us know at our contact us page and we will gladly include them!

Daughters of the King,
Mother Theresa Chapter

The Mother Theresa chapter of the Daughters of the King is devoted to prayer. We pray for our clergy and for all those who request our prayers. We commit to holding up in prayer all those who request it, always respecting the confidentiality of those who request prayer. You may ask for prayer by filling out the paper at the back of the sanctuary during services, or email us here.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Our Lay Eucharistic Visitors bring Holy Communion to our home-bound parishioners and distribute communion to the residents of Valley Health Services long-term care and rehabilitation facility when it is requested.
If you know of someone who would like this service, go to the contact page and let us know!

Herkimer Vacation Bible School

Herkimer VBS is an ecumenical (multi-church, multi-sect) non-profit organization that provides a one week Vacation Bible School experience for Herkimer Area children and youth. Planning begins in February and VBS most often occurs the last week of July. All donations and donated money goes to providing the children with the activities, and providing background checks of all volunteers so that every adult involved aligns with the strict requirements of the Safe Sanctuaries program.
Christ Church participates by donating monetarily and sending volunteers to help plan and run the program each year!

Winter Coat Giveaway

Often held in late October, Christ Church holds a one-day event where anyone in need can come in from the cold, get a winter coat, hat, mittens, gloves, scarves, blankets, socks, toiletries, and limited canned goods. These items are collected throughout the year, are paired with our food and clothing pantry, and are often supplemented by Saint Mary's.
