Saint Andrew

Andrew, a fisherman, brother of Simon Peter, followed Jesus at His call, leaving family and friends to go with this man who had promised to make him a 'fisher of men.' Andrew recognized Jesus as the Messiah.
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus. Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).
          John 1:40-41

Christ, the Gentle Savior

The last windows on the South wall are ones depicting Christ as the gentle Savior. He lifts a young child into His lap and smiles, as parents and older children stand by. We know the story of how the disciples tried to protect Jesus from the crowds and especially from the children who, like all children, were curious.
They wanted to see and touch this man whom everyone was talking about, this Rabbi (teacher) who had such wisdom and who healed the sick, who even drove demons out of people!
Yet, as they pressed forward, the disciples reproved them for they wanted Jesus to rest. Suddenly He turned and said, "Wait, don't stop the children. Let them come to me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." Those words echo across the ages... 'of such is the kingdom of Heaven.' Let us each be like a child - loving, trusting, joyous in the knowledge that Jesus loves us.

Saint John

On the other side is John, the great apostle, the Gospel writer, the exile on the isle of Patmos, the man of visions who gave us the Book of Revelation.
If any man shall add or take away from the words of this book, God shall remove his name from the Book of Life!
           Revelation 22:19
This panel is also labeled, "In memory of John Woolever".

Saint Andrew in the Bible

andSaint Andrew is siblings with Saint Peter, but is also known as the 'first called.' Saint John presents Saint Andrew as a disciple of John the Baptist (different John. This one is the cousin of Jesus), and was able to recognize Jesus just walking by as the 'Lamb of God.'
Saint Andrew shows us that discernment can clearly come from knowing truth. He also shows us that sometimes, all it takes to bring a person to Christ is to say, "Come see!"
The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.
Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them.
They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
“Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus. 41Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).
Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus.

Saint john in the Bible

Saint John is known by many names: The Great, The disciple whom Jesus loved, The Evangelist, the Divine. He is often listed as the youngest apostle, and was nicknamed a "Son of Thunder" with his brother James because of their extreme zeal! He was a disciple of John the Baptist and along with Saint Andrew (above) identified Jesus as the 'Lamb of God' upon just seeing him pass by.
Saint John is credited with writing the Gospel of John (the story of Jesus' life), the Epistles of John (letters to churches), and Revelation which describes John's vision of the end of earth and the coming of the kingdom of Heaven.
In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
          John 1:1 (Gospel)
We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.
           1 John 1:1 (Epistle)
